Ear wax / blocked ears
Wax in the ear canal is normal and healthy but when it builds up and becomes impacted, it can cause problems such as a conductive hearing loss, tinnitus or feeling of pressure. It is recommended that softeners are used to try and clear ear wax, such as olive drops or spray, or sodium bicarbonate ear drops. If there is persistent ear wax it can be removed with instruments or microsuction (small hoover). This can be undertaken at the Duchy hospital.
